Dear Whom this may concern,
I recently purchased the new Motorolla Backflip and to much of my disgust I have to say this is the worst phone I have ever owned. Usually phones take about 3-4 months before problems start to arrise or become annoying, I must say the problems I have encountered with your backflip within a week of purchase is an absolute joke. I have no idea which section in charge passed this phone through testing, but I would love to speak to them either over the phone or via e-mail and tell them how to do their jobs correctly.
Problems I have encountered.
The phone is built around communication features, facebook, myspace, e-mail, texting. The e-mail is great, I get everything within 5-10 minutes of receiving the actual e-mail I am very much pleased with this feature on the phone. Myspace, I am sorry I do not own a myspace account and therefore cannot give you according feedback. Facebook, ok you have my happenings and the cute little status feed, I figured at first this was draining my phone battery so I deleted the application from the desktop. But this is a great feature I am sure if the phone not need to be charged every single day I would use it more.
Texting is the biggest problem. I cannot tell you why or how the problem is occuring, I can only define the problem for you to further look into. Text messaging is horrible and slow, it makes the phone die. It makes the phone pause, stop, cancel the application process, load everything, pause, reload everything, cancel. It is the most frustrating piece of crap I have ever had the opportunity to use. At times it can take me up to 5 minutes to respond to an e-mail via the text settings, and I have only owned the phone for a few weeks and I have seen the "Sorry! Activity Text Messaging (in application Text Messaging) is not responding" message about 100 times. Wait or force close, the outcome varies whether or not I will be able to check inbox or reload the whole inbox again, to have it do the same thing.
So what's slow? * Moving from Messages to Text Messaging * Loading the Inbox * Touching on a person's conversation * Loading the Persons Conversation * Replying to the persons Conversation * Sending the person a response
constantly the phone will just go, you know what.. checking your inbox is going to be too much for me right now.. so i'll just crash
Writing a draft, which is writing a text then leaving the window and going back to it to have the message not sent but instead a draft. Great! It took me a while to figure out how to do it. Later on a send the draft... A few days later I switch off my phone, turn my phone back on and all the draft messages I had written and sent off a couple of days ago, decide to RESEND AGAIN WHEN I SWITCH THE PHONE BACK ON. omfg.
What other troubles have I had regarding the phone?
Connectivity, I am in the city and I lose all reception? yet it stills shows I have reception? the fix for that was switching the phone on and off
Internet browser, you can only get on the browser every so often, I have found a quick solution to this. Go into wireless settings and just toggle the network connecting from 3G and Automatic. No leaving it on 3g does not mean the browser ALWAYS works.
Youtube. Drops out often I assume this is because the above problem
Charging the phone, I cannot believe I have every low setting chosen, except for the 2G (Battery saver) and I do not watch movies, or take photos. And i STILL have to recharge the bloody phone EVERY FREAKING DAY. Are you seriously kidding me you designed a phone that needs to be constantly recharged, that's great.
I hope somebody intelligent reads this e-mail, and if you respond I will be more then willing to speak to somebody on the phone, meet with somebody about the phone. I am seriously extremely unhappy with this, and I was even considering recording the phone 'in use' doing these problems and then posting it on youtube. If it wasn't for the randomness the problems occur.
Thank you for reading this e-mail,
Regards,
Mike
